All materials for the Board of Supervisors workshop are available for download on the Public Involvement page.

Sacramento County’s Draft General Plan identifies the Jackson Highway and Grant Line East areas as potential new growth areas. Approximately 12,000 acres within the Jackson Highway area is under consideration for UPA expansion as part of the General Plan Update.  The Jackson Highway Visioning area encompasses approximately 22,000 acres, some of which could be potentially developed during the current General Plan period and beyond.  The Grant Line East Visioning area includes approximately 8,000 acres, all of which will be considered for UPA expansion. These two areas are the largest remaining open areas in the County’s Urban Services Boundary. The County is excited about this unique chance to holistically examine the land planning and conservation opportunities that will shape the future of the East County for decades to come.

The Visioning study analyzes the location, type and mix of potential land uses – both urban and rural – and associated infrastructure needs in conceptual land use maps and policy documents. The Visioning study results will guide future decision-making regarding urbanization and conservation in the Jackson Highway and Grant Line East areas. Visit each individual Visioning area page for additional information.

Several workshops and presentations were held to collect public feedback. For more information about the public involvement process, click here. The Visioning studies have incorporated the public feedback in land use concepts and policy documents.
