Jackson Highway Visioning Area

The Jackson Highway Visioning area encompasses approximately 22,000 acres, of which 12,000 acres is included in the expansion of the Urban Policy Area (UPA) proposed by the 2030 General Plan update. The 2030 General Plan Update only identifies a portion of the study area as a new growth area, but a comprehensive vision requires consideration of the entire area. The County wants to ensure that both the near-and long-term development is compatible with the SACOG’s Sacramento Regional Blueprint.

Presentations and discussion for the Jackson Highway and Grant Line East Visioning Studies were held before the Board of Supervisors on November 19th, 2008 and February 11th, 2009.  Thank you to all that participated!  The final hearing for the Visioning studies will occur on March 31st.  Materials for this meeting will be posted on this website as they become available.

All materials for the Board of Supervisors workshop are available for download on the Public Involvement Page.

Maps

The Jackson Highway Visioning study included compiling a number of basemaps to illustrate a number of existing conditions in the Jackson Highway area. These maps, along with a feedback and information from a number of other sources, formulated the conceptual maps.  The conceptual maps identify the challenges and opportunities associated with development in the area.
