Fair Oaks Boulevard and Manzanita Avenue have been designated by the County of Sacramento as commercial corridors to receive economic and development standard improvements. The Fair Oaks Boulevard Corridor Plan calls for land use objectives, design guidelines, development standards and streetscape design. The Fair Oaks Boulevard Project is a multi-year program that will further the goals of the Carmichael Community Action Plan adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 2006 to reutilize and enhance Fair Oaks Boulevard. The creation of the Corridor Plan will be accomplished in three steps:
- Defining Opportunities: The first step is to identify issues and opportunities for implementing the community's objectives for Carmichael and Fair Oaks Boulevard.
- Strategies: The second step will propose land use, economic development, infrastructure, circulation and design strategies. A concepts report will summarize the results of Step 2.
- Action Plan: The third step will result in a set of implementation activities that will establish investment priorities and sequencing.
The corridor study area is along Fair Oaks Boulevard in the Carmichael community area, starting at Oak Avenue at the southern end, and extending to Marshall Avenue on the eastern end. The corridor also extends northward along Manzanita Avenue to just north of Winding Way at the northern end.
The Fair Oaks Boulevard Corridor Plan was approved by the County Board of Supervisors on October 26, 2011. Please click on the following links to view final approved documents.
